2 days ago my kids with our 3 dogs were attacked. My kids are on winter break from school and I took vacation for a few weeks. My home within a housing community has a strip of driveway that runs behind all homes to allow access to everyone’s garage. It’s a rather quiet area especially being the 5th house from the corner. I do my 40 yard sprint HIITS out here a few days a week.
My 10yo son and 13yo daughter took our 3 small dogs out to play and go for a walk. 1 dog was walking on a leash while the other 2 were in the dog stroller. It’s made for small dogs so you can secure them by the collar or harness so they can’t hump out. I was inside working my core preparing to go outside to hit my routine gym workout. I was startled to hear screaming, yelling, crying, and dogs barking behind my home.
My scumbag, junkie, disgusting, neglectful neighbors dog, a 7 month old pit bull jumped a 6ft fence to attack my family. It started by trying to bite the head of our teacup Yorkie who thinks she is the biggest, baddest dog on the block. My daughter got between it to get the dog away. This led to her losing the leash with our Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix who ran near 30 yards to try to seek refuge in my garage. The pit chased her down barrel rolling her and chomping down on her stomach and shaking her. My daughter jumping in to get the dog off ours and the dog bit her. She won and got our pup to safely. This is when I arrived on the scene. I sprinted down 30 yards to the rolled over stroller with my 2 helpless dogs (Yorkie and a tea cup Yorkie) strapped to the stroller. I had to fight of the pit to get him away from them, picked up the stroller with the dogs and he came back knocking the stroller over again and biting my full size Yorkie while I’m punching and yelling at it.
This chaos brought out 5 of my neighbors that took my kids to safety and tried to help me fight off the pit. The scumbag neighbor stood by their gate only making kissing noises to try to call their pit over to them to let it into their trashed, dog shit littered yard. Finally after about 5 good right hands to the dogs face and body he retreated.
Apparently this dog jumped the other neighbor in her garage a week ago. Didn’t bite but ran in and jumped on her knocking her over and leaving scratches down her back and legs. Anyway my 5 neighbors all being women till a male neighbor even across the street that heard to chaos and ran over to help were all out there to help and protect. I appreciate them for that.
I called the cops who wouldn’t do anything and transferred me to animal control to take a “bite report.” They took the report and said they will be there in about 72hrs…wtf? I took my daughter to urgent care for proper precautions. Her hand had 6 punctures from the bite. Her hand hurts, a little swollen, and throbbing pain for the last few days.
Our pup attacked was not acting right. We took her to a pet urgent care about 4hrs after the incident. She had internal bleeding. They wanted her to stay overnight to see if it would clot to avoid surgery. I had to drop 4K for this treatment plan. The next morning about 15hrs later the dr called and recommend surgery cuz she was getting worse. My wife was at work so I took the kids to go see her quick before surgery. I also had to drop another 4K to move forward with the surgery and the treatment plan. About an hour later I got the call by the surgeon. There was far too much damage to her liver for her to survive. We had to let her go. My family has been devastated. She was out youngest at near 2yrs old. My wife bought her from someone selling pups and due to the lying about proper vaccinations she almost died in the first 2wks we had her. I paid 2K and she made it thru.
She was like sunshine. Warm and welcoming…Lighting up our lives with her sweet, loving, and playful personality. She was a lover and a snuggler
The neighbor, the homeowner, the HOA, the police, animal control all will not do anything. Animal control says they will educate the owner about leash laws and tell them to quarantine their dog for 7days to ensure it doesn’t have rabies. The dog attacked my family wounding my daughter and killing our pet traumatizing my family. They said that is not grounds for termination. FUCK THAT!!!
Give me or let me create an opportunity to get that dog out of the yard and I will shoot it immediately. I’m a dog lover but for the safety of my family, animals, or even anyone else who lives in this community deserve to feel safe to enjoy the beautiful weather here this time of year. I am committed to taking this dog out myself under the right circumstances. I wish I originally ran outside with my gun or my knife. It would have been over already.
My daughter now blames herself cuz she wanted to take the dogs out to play and go for a walk. She also thinks cuz she dropped the leash it’s her fault that led to this tragedy. On me I should have been outside in my garage gym 30min earlier but I was being lazy getting started.
My daughter and I went back later that day to get her bed and blankets and also pay for her cremation and remains and a clay paw print. We seen her stiff, lifeless body to say goodbye. We wept in each others arms. I wanted to cry harder but I wanted to be strong for her. I wanted to throw things and just lose my shit and scream. I still have to hold my shit together and try to help my children and my wife thru this. It’s really hard cuz I loved her to my core and I feel that part of my life missing now.
As each day comes and goes the days are empty. Christmas doesn’t feel like Christmas. It feels like sadness, pain, hurt, and rage. Each day brings a reminder of something that she (the pup) would be doing on these normal, regular days. They are no longer normal. They are sad and empty. She brought so much life, energy, and happiness to our family.
I plan to sue for bills primarily but I may have more to go on. I’m not trying to be greedy. Honestly I would just be content with paying the med bills. I don’t want to eat 8K as the victim(s) here.
I will say my other neighbors have been checking in to offer any help or support, and even now to offer their sympathy. I appreciate people like this.

My family and I love animals and I couldn’t imagine that happening we lost a few they are family and it’s devastating when they go. I can’t believe nothing was done to the dog and the owner! Most places would immediately have the dog removed I feel your frustration bro. And to have a neighbor like that sucks! You guys will get through this it will be a tough Christmas but it will make you stronger and enjoy each other more. Very sad bro all I can do is wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. It will be a better year sending my thoughts and prayers.
