HGH vs HCG: Understanding Two Very Different Hormones Commonly Discussed in Bodybuilding
HGH and HCG are two names that appear regularly in bodybuilding, hormone health, and performance related discussions.
Because both are naturally connected to human hormonal systems, newer members can sometimes assume they have similar purposes.
They do not.
Human Growth Hormone, commonly known as HGH, is primarily associated with growth, metabolism, tissue development, and the IGF 1 pathway.
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, commonly known as HCG, is primarily associated with reproductive hormone signaling and has an important relationship with luteinizing hormone receptors.
Understanding these differences provides a much clearer picture of why both hormones appear in fitness discussions while occupying completely different areas of human physiology.
What Is HGH?
HGH stands for Human Growth Hormone.
The hormone is naturally produced by the pituitary gland and plays an important role throughout human development.
