Different strokes for different folks. I'd be doing LISS for a little while. Starting to implement HIIT as I know it helps my GPP for higher rep sets.
Thoughts?...

I personally cannot stand steady state cardio. I get nothing out of it other than being sore for the rest of the day. HIIT by far is the cardio I can do. You'll burn twice as many calories in half the time and its more beneficial on the cardiovascular system.

I prefer steady state cardio. I love to just hop on the exercise bike with an iPad and watch some Netflix dramas or whatever. Before I know it an hour has gone by and I’m done with my cardio. I also like walking or cycling too, it’s good to get some sun and fresh air.

I really need to start doing more HIIT, I'm not getting any younger, currently 54, and my ticker and overall cardiovascular system really needs a good workout to stay resilient in my later years.

Nice!! Thanks for posting brother.

LISS has always worked real well for me to cut up. Throw on a good movie or album and hop on the bike or treadmill and lose track of time. I’m on a Beta blocker(nebivolol) so my heart rate never reaches 100 but the fat melts off just the same. Before beta blockers the highest my heart rate would go on cardio was 120.

I train legs 2x week, one ham dominant the other quad. IWhen I've started to have issues with recovery (not DOMS, more systemic) and after a couple of HIIT sessions on a recumbent bike, my legs feel stronger and stay more pumped and definitely have much less soreness. This kind of flies in the face of conventional training wisdom (wisDOM - Get it? LOL), but I think the increased blood flow to the area seems to work for me.

Comparatively speaking, studies have demonstrated much less inflammation to muscles with HIIT due to the difference in duration of activity overall. Either one I think should be tools in your arsenal.

Some training techniques are more enjoyable than others, but like food, movies, taste in romantic partners, or anything else in life, that part is subjective, however, one shouldn't simply ignore one for the other and miss the benefits each can offer.

That being said, what works for you works. If it isn't working, it likely won't just start to. Train hard mofos.
