If you’re a fan of breath-taking views like most people are, then maybe it’s time to give observation decks a shot, if you haven’t already. Forget the Space Needle or the CN Tower, there are some truly terrifying observation decks that will get your hearts pumping and adrenaline flowing, all while taking in the amazing scenery. Here are some of the wildest observation decks made for the bravest of them all. By the way, these aren’t for the faint of heart.
1. Huangtengxia Glass Corridor Scared of heights? Good, just stay where you are and leave this one for the adrenaline junkies. The Huangtengxia Tianmen Skywalk offers a truly amazing view, if you can muster up the courage to stand in the 99.9% transparent glass box that juts out 1,200 feet from a cliff’s edge. It’s only held in place by three support pillars and can support the weight of 4,000 people. During the day, the platform is often obscured by low level clouds, but at night it’s illuminated by 2,000 colorful LED lights. So, are you up for the challenge?
2. Step into the Void No, it’s not a horror movie title, but a tourist attraction that might leave you a little woozy. Step into the Void, formally known as Aiguille du Midi Skywalk, is located at 12,600 feet up in the French Alps. It consists of a glass box with a glass floor that gives you a clear view of the landscape from all four sides. You can also ride the cable car that takes you to the mountain summit. Here’s a small tidbit: the Aiguille du Midi is a peak in the Mont Blanc massif and the skywalk is the closest thing to the mountain.
3. Glass Love Bridge Vietnam is home to several amazing tourist attractions and the Love Glass Bridge at Ho Chi Minh City will leave you in awe. The bridge was unveiled in 2019 as the country’s very first glass suspension bridge with 5D special effects. Built in just four months, the bridge supposedly offers 30 special effects and was designed with the concept of love in mind, hence its name. If you’re brave enough to make your way to the top, then you’ll be greeted with a stunning view of the vast mountains and forests of Moc Chau. Just keep your eyes up and don’t sneak a peek at the floor below.
4. Stairway to Nothingness The Stairway to Nothingness sounds like you’re about to enter the pits of hell. Rather, it’s a daring suspension bridge at the Dachstein Glacier resort in Austria. The bridge goes on for 328 feet that leads to a vertical cliff that is 1,300 feet tall. Once there, you’re met by an additional 14 steps that descend into a glass viewing platform. According to the resort’s website, the Stairway to Nothingness is only recommended for visitors with nerves of steel. The rest of us will just have to wait for pictures when they come back down.

Aurland Lookout And then there’s the spectacular Aurlandsfjord in Norway, home to the Aurland Lookout Tower or Stegastein, which sort of resembles a wooden and steel waterfall that leads to a glass box. This was a purposeful design as it’s meant to induce the feeling of “falling into nature” or falling into the fjord. The viewing deck stands at 650 feet in the air and stretches for another 100 feet. Only daredevils take the risk of doing this one as people often quit before they even begin.
