Hey all so alittle about myself I’m 38 I’m a father of 3, 19/18/16 my 18yr old son passed away this month on Jan.4th. And I’ve been dealing and struggling everyday not to go back to drinking and using drugs I’m a recovering addict. I quit 2 years ago and with losing my son I knew I had to step up for my other 2 kids more and be a father they could still keep depending on. They already lost a brother I don’t want them to lose a father also.

So I finally got back into the gym after starting my TRT last month in December and getting healthy and going to the gym has been the only thing keeping me SANE. And I’ve got some goals I’ve set for myself and maybe you all could give me some advice.

Id like to become a sports nutritionist or a coach/life coach? I want to get healthy and let my actions and lifestyle be a testament to people so I can motivate others to take control of their lives and be happy and healthy. TRT has changed my life I finally feel that drive and motivation again so I’m exploring the world of health and fitness. So in order to become a coach or a trainer like some of these guys I’m seeing on TikTok and other social media platforms, what can I do to go after that goal to #1 help people be healthy and happy #2 be able make some money from it to sustain a living because I truly enjoy helping others and seeing them transform it’s a very rewarding feeling. Should I go and take courses for sports nutrition or what other credentials or studying should I do so I can be a good fitness coach someday?

Anyway thank you all for taking the time to read this sorry I know it was long, but I figured I could find some bros on this site to give me some insight and drop some knowledge on me. Thanks all and god bless ✊🏼💪

I’m sorry for your loss brother! I’m a recovering alcoholic and addicted myself. One day at a time and you are already being a positive role model to myself each day you stay sober and heal with this terrible burden! Hang in there and hope someone can give better advise on your question.

First off brother, I’m really sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine that pain, but a lot of respect to you for staying sober and stepping up for your other kids. That alone says a lot about your character.

As far as coaching goes, I’ll be straight with you so you don’t get discouraged later. The social media coaches you see are the highlight reel. Most of them don’t make real money from coaching alone, and a lot of them have been at it for years or already had a following.

If this is something you truly want to do, start small and realistic. A basic personal trainer cert like NASM or ISSA is a good first step if you want legit knowledge and credibility. Nutrition coaching can be added later, but don’t rush it and don’t try to be everything at once.

More important than certs is experience. Train yourself first, help a few people for free, learn how different bodies and minds work. If you can help real people get real results, the rest comes naturally.

Also, keep your main income solid while you build this. Coaching takes time to grow and the last thing you want is financial stress pushing you backwards.

You’re on the right path mentally. Stay consistent, stay sober, keep showing up in the gym, and let this be a long term goal instead of a quick fix. Respect to you for even wanting to help others while carrying what you’re carrying.

Thank you for taking the time to spread some knowledge, ya i totally agree with the solid income and being patient here lately I’ve just been trying to help friends and co-workers out and motivate them. I feel as if they can see that my life and my actions are at a good standard then naturally they will become motivated. As far as the certifications go I wasn’t sure where to start on those and now that you’ve told me I’ll tackle these. I hope your all staying safe and blessed out there thanks again for taking some time 💪✊
