I thought this would be an interesting topic and would love to hear what everyone in the community personally does and the thought process behind your choice. Do you prefer to use more gear when trying to grow or when trying to get shredded?

This topic was inspired by Think Big Bodybuilding Media.

My opinion would be that more gear would be required in the bulk or offseason phase because muscle is harder to grow then fat is to lose. Also it does not take a whole lot to maintain muscle mass when dieting.

When you stop growing on the dose and diet you are currently on. And just go up 1cc or so at a time.

Too many people try to build a 15 year body in 1-2 cycles, it don't work that way.

How many of us have completely fucked our cycles up running way more than we have any business running and end up skipping workouts and meals because we are too toxic, lethargic to move and have no appetite?

If you start missing workouts and cant eat, time to reevaluate and dial it back.

Absolutely, you can take all the gear in the world but if you feel like shit and can't function then you will make 0 progress.

I feel the same. I stick with larger dosages during bulk. I also make sure to bulk during the holidays for the food lol.

Sometimes all it takes is some small tweaks!

Quality rest is also supremely important. Training, Diet, Rest.

I know for me sometimes while running a bulk cycle and I’m feeling like a beast I can find myself overtraining and not getting the quality rest needed to grow. Sometimes I just need to lower training volume. This is usually what I tweak first if I hit a wall. Then I look at my diet. As prolly many of us do we overlook our rest to ensure its adequate in the first place or simply add an hour. Managing stress is important too. I also use a “stress stack”of supplements to help reduce cortisol.

I completely agree. I recently just took a deload week and feel so much better and stronger now because during theat week I also prioritized sleep and recovery.

I would love to hear you "stress stack" if you don't mind sharing. It could be really good knowledge for all who read this post 😁.

Here is my stress/anxiety (lower cortisol) stack that I’ve used for a few years and works pretty good for me.

L-Theanine 200mg
Ashwagandha 4500mg
L-Tyrosine 500mg
5-HTP 200-400mg
Choline Bitartrate 650mg
Ginkgo Biloba 120mg

I also use 500mg Magnesium 2Xs per day, 1000mg of Beet Root 2Xs a day, anywhere from 1-5g of Taurine daily (orals dependent), and 3-5g of Glutamine everyday.

This stack and some other support supps will also really help you if you have high BP.

Nice stack and I also love glutamine and taurine.

I run more total mg in a bulk but that is usually just 2-3 compounds. When I cut I use less mg but 5-6 compounds.

This seems to be a common approach with some of those 5-6 compounds during a cut being for cosmetic effects.
