Went to see orthopedic doctor shoulder specialist today after 4 or 5yrs post slap tear in labrum. My bicep tendon to labrum tear has never recovered after several cortisone injections and more than 3 months of physical therapy. I’ve had pain ever since and also have some arthritis and bone spur that needs to be shaved down on my collar bone.

The doctor really recommends the Tenotomy for my age if I can deal with some potential disfigurement. He also cannot predict the severity of the potential deformity, “Popeye arm.” The surgery and healing is quick. He said about 2wks and I’ll be back in the gym.
However if I have any self consciousness about the potential for deformity he recommend doing the Tenodesis. He also noted that I may likely lose a little range of motion and the risk of tearing it again is high with the heavy weight training putting me right back to where I am now. The recovery time is 12-16wks.

Fuck me! I had a back surgery, L5/S1 fusion in January, then an appendectomy end of May, now staring at another surgery…my year is gonna be shot for lifting and even thinking of running a cycle. I was looking forward to a good cycle this fall and if I do the surgery I’m not interested in missing out on anymore boating season this year so I would wait till at least Sept. I’m considering and researching both options but I’ve had several people already object to the Tenotomy bc of the high potential for the deformity.

Anybody out there have any experience on this matter? I’d be very interested to know how everything went. I also welcome anyone else’s opinions on this subject. Thanks gents!

Surgery complete. 3rd surgery in 9 months. Went with the labrum repair with bicep tenodesis. No popeye arm for me. Also cleaned out some arthritis and shaved a bone spur off my collar bone.

Typing is slow with my one non dominant hand.

On to 3 months of recovery before I see the gym again.

Time to slam that Wolverine stack to help recovery along! I may soon be in almost the same boat but with a bone spur in my right clavicle due to a fracture I sustained as a kid so it's been 55 years since that injury and the spur has grown enough to dig into the delt muscle from below and cause pain and starting to restrict my right shoulder's range of motion.

You might need to make changes to your shoulder/biceps training to reduce the risk of tearing it again. One idea would be to do lighter weight higher reps as much as you can tolerate.

I’m running KLOW kit right now. I have a Wolverine kit to follow. Also using 2iu GH at night and 125mg Test wk.

I originally tore it going heavy on Barbell Bench Press. I rarely use BB BP anymore. Primarily I use DB presses now.

Bro I am In Your shoes!! May back in may and the near death infection mid may from back surgery.
I’m now set up for right shoulder ortho clean up - told him to leave my bicep alone and fingers crossed this works because he is adamant I need a full replacement!
Come mid November I have C5-6 & 6-7 clean up.
So much for gym and hunting season…….

I feel your pain, 3 months sucks.Hope your recovery is smooth brother.👊

From all these surgeries this year I only got a total of 12wks of gym time. Sucks but I still get compliments on my size. Lucky I’ve lost mostly strength and only a little size. I need a good comeback year in 2027 to get healthy and 2028 im gonna do a few big blasts to put on good size.

Damn brother! The back is no joke. The dr had me go do an mri last week to check for a bone infection due to me regressing since my appendectomy. I don’t think that is the case. I believe it to be my core has been compromised which has taken a toll on my back again.

I hope I can avoid a total replacement of anything. Good luck with everything brother. I hope all goes well for you.
