Hi friends, Ms. Lifts here!

I’m not going to share my age or starting/ending weight, but I do want to talk about my experience using Retatrutide — vial vs. pen. This has been my first time ever trying peptides.

First Cycle – Vial

For my first 8-week cycle, I used vial Retatrutide. My dose was 2.5mg per week, injected on Thursdays. Honestly, I went in thinking this would be a miracle drug — and quickly learned it’s not quite that simple, LOL. I lost about 15 pounds, which isn’t terrible, but I know I could have done better.

The hardest part was the gastrointestinal side effects. Some days the stomach cramps were so bad I just wanted to curl up in bed. Eventually, I discovered that taking Pepto Bismol in the mornings helped a lot.

My hunger was inconsistent. By Wednesdays especially, I would feel extra hungry. I didn’t always make the best food choices, still half-expecting this drug to “do the work for me.”

And the injections… yikes. I dreaded Thursdays. I used an insulin needle in the belly, and it was brutal. The needles felt flimsy and too long. I would bruise and welt even when rotating spots. I ended up icing before injecting just to numb the area a little.

Exercise-wise, I don’t go to the gym, but I do walk regularly. I also checked my blood sugar daily and never had a true low, though I know it’s possible with this type of medication.

After finishing, I took 8 weeks off before starting my second cycle, as recommended by Mr. Lifts.

Second Cycle – Pen

I restarted on August 18th, this time using the Retatrutide pen. I split my weekly 2.5mg dose into three smaller doses (Monday, Wednesday, Friday).

The difference has been night and day! Even though I’m pinning more often, the pen needles are shorter, sturdier, and painless. No more bruises, welts, or icing beforehand.

Best of all — no GI issues this time.

Hunger has been very low. I’m sticking to a calorie deficit with the help of a tracking app, and it’s been easier than expected. I give myself one cheat meal per week, but even then I stay mindful and track it. I haven’t had those “OMG I need to eat everything” days like before.

So far, I’m down about 5 pounds — actually ahead of where I was at this point in the first cycle. I just came back from a weekend away with Mr. Lifts, so I’m resetting and back on track now.

I do still check my blood sugar daily, sometimes multiple times if I feel “off.” A few times it’s been lower than ideal for a non-diabetic, so I make sure to choose foods wisely. Sometimes I even have to push myself to eat because I’m just not hungry.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Retatrutide pen has been a much better experience for me — easier, less painful, fewer side effects, and better results so far. I’m very grateful this option exists.

I’ll share another update in about six weeks for anyone interested.

Thanks for following along!
