Sustanon is one of the most recognizable testosterone preparations discussed in bodybuilding and hormone communities.

What makes Sustanon particularly interesting is that it is not based on just one testosterone ester.

Instead, it combines several testosterone esters with different pharmacological characteristics.

Understanding why gives us a useful introduction to testosterone esters and how they influence the release characteristics of testosterone preparations.


What Is Sustanon?

Sustanon is an injectable testosterone preparation originally developed for testosterone replacement in appropriate medical settings.

The commonly known Sustanon formulation combines four testosterone esters:

Testosterone Propionate

Testosterone Phenylpropionate

Testosterone Isocaproate

Testosterone Decanoate

Although these have different ester structures, the active hormone ultimately involved is testosterone.

What Is a Testosterone Ester?
