[OFFICIAL] Old Guys Thread

I just got test results back on Test levels. My Free test was on the low end and the Free test levels in the blood were not only deficient but damn near non-existent. Now it is imperative that I start TRT. Man am I looking forward to feeling better . Can I get a Hell yeah?

TRT and Weight loss changed my trajectory. I could not even imagine going through the s*** I'm dealing with right now in the shape mentally and physically that I was 18 months ago. The funny thing is as tough as life is for me at the moment. I'm tackling it. Leaning into it. Addressing it without fear. Getting your hormones straight and fitness can be the greatest achievements that we can have at this point in our life. Not only provides lifespan but quality of life.

I eventually sought help from a men's hormone clinic. Discovering my total testosterone was at 179 was a wake-up call. Starting testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) brought profound changes—increased energy, a boosted libido, and a newfound zest for life and fitness.
Do you just do your prescribed TRT dosage?
I get mine from my PCP and have to drop the dosage to half a week prior to getting my blood work done.
I'm 48 and was off and on from 18 years old to late 20's. Then basically started TRT for good.
I come off TRT every 3-4 months and use PCT for a month to give my receptors a break and wake up that HTPA.
How is your BP on higher dosages?

I do my prescribed dosage about 60% of the time. My BP is running a bit high but I dealing with it with ancillaries.

I'm basically the same. The older we get, the more adverse effects we see from dosing and training the old fashion ways of our youth.
I got heavily into endurance sports for years and focused on training my heart and endurance, so lower dosed TRT was the way to go.
I was almost killed 2 times training on my TT bikes when I was preparing for various Ironmans.
Eight surgeries later I sold the training and competition bikes, because I live in the hit and run/cyclists killed capitol of the US, and decided it was time to get bigger and maybe get back into BJJ/MMA as well.

Damn. Glad you are here to share. What's your go-to now? Physique? Power lifting?

More physique, while throwing in moderate amounts of swimming and running.
The bigger I get, the harder the heart works to perfuse blood throughout the body, not to mention the strain it puts on the joints.
As far as power lifting, I tend to overdo things and with the bigger size and jumps in strength, then I start tearing things.
I literally gave myself a slight pec tear when I decide to add weight to dips (an exercise I had not done in years).
First set, no weight 15 reps. All good
Next set, added 25 lbs. On the 6th perfect rep, I feel this light pinching pain. Seventh rep, I feel a sharp ripping pain and stop.
I move around and I'm not in pain or anything, so the knuckelhead I am, go back to bodyweight and feel the searing pain again and stop.
Went through all the post injury protocols... heat, deep massage, full rom, etc.
It only bugged me a few weeks and during decline exercises. Was fine on incline and flat, but I still take it easy on chest.
It took 2 weeks to get the knot at the upper/lower separation to dissipate completely.
All good now, but sticking to dumbbells and machines for chest.

It is interesting to find others who push themselves at any age. We tend to gravitate to each other .Everytime I come home from the gym with a new PR, my wife rolls her eyes and is like......"Why...your 50 years old. Stop already." You know what, I am not fucking stopping 😂. I refuse to be the guy I was again. Never that guy again.

Look at all these old guys. Hey fellas 51yrs young here. Think I'll hang out a bit.

I do full body work outs every day. Kind of like a circuit but the circuit changes daily. Currently running test cyp at 200mg a week split two times. With that I throw in some test ace at 100mg. Pre work out oral is usually a 25mg anavar and a m1t tab. Or I'll take 1 mtren tab at 500mcg by itself. At night I'll do light cardio. Usually a 30-45 min medium paced walk. The work out in the am is usually fast paced. No breaks between moves. Diets clean, Cals are low. Life is good.

I've had to learn how to scale it down and I feel lazier from it! :ROFLMAO:
I've picked things up lately and focused more on life and enjoying it.
I loved competing, but prepping for and competing in Ironman triathlons gets expensive and extremely time consuming.
Besides, I enjoy not getting up at 4 am to ride 6 hours or 75-100 miles on a Sunday. I was training endurance cardio for 18 hours a week at my peak.
3 swim sessions, 3 bike sessions, and 3 run sessions.

That's a clip from my Training Peaks account.
So if you really want to piss-off a significant other and be tired all the time, get into triathlons
🤪

Thanks for hanging with us. Hoping to build a bit of a thriving sub-community where we can learn, teach, laugh, and bust some old balls

Thanks to Toprawrita (sponsor) I am now able to start some TRT and from what I hear all of you guys saying, it is a game changer. I also found out my thyroid meds needed some adjustment and was getting fatigue from not getting proper sleep. I plan to do a split biweekly 100mg Test Cyp, which will be 200mg/week due to some of the advice of the vets etc... I would like to know how long it will take to actually start taking affect. Another thing. I could not be happier with the professionalism of toprawrita. They went way out of their way to help me. Went above and beyond what I expected.
